February News from the Simpson Literary Project
Dear Friends of the Simpson Project,
Busy times here for the Project, and I wanted to share with you these exciting developments.
We are proud to announce the Longlist for the $50,000 2019 SimpsonPrize—forty-six immensely talented authors from around the country, representing tremendous diversity. Have a look at the Longlist.
Joyce Carol Oates and Anthony Marra will be in conversation, moderated by me, at the Lafayette Library on Tuesday, 5 March, 7:00 pm.
Anne Raeff and Lori Ostlund will be in conversation, moderated by me, at the Lafayette Library on Tuesday, 26 February, 7:00 pm. Anne is Longlisted for the 2019 Simpson Prize, and Lori was a Finalist for the 2017 Simpson Prize.
Joyce Carol Oates, Simpson Project Writer-in-Residence at the Lafayette Library, will conduct a free, informal memoir workshop for ten selected writers on the evenings of April 9, 16, and 23.
Anthony Marra, 2018 Simpson Prize Recipient, will be in residence, March 4-15, in Berkeley and Lafayette. He will be conferring with writing students at Cal and with underserved high school-age writers at ourSimpson Project Workshops in the communities we serve.
I hope our paths cross on one or more of these occasions. Thank you once again for your interest in the Simpson Project.
All for now,
Joe
